Stepping It Up

ImageThis week’s activities have just ratcheted up a notch.  I got a call today from the orthopedic surgeon’s office.  They can fit Samantha in for surgery on Friday.  (https://embracingtherollercoaster.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/5-random-things for a reminder of the gory details!)  Samantha wants to have this surgery, and she has been anxious to get it done before she leaves for school.  We had pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that it wasn’t going to happen.

Actually, I think the timing is good.  She will be in a bulky cast for about 10 days and then a standard cast for a month.  Not sure when she will be able to come home to get it removed, but we will figure it out.  I am very thankful that she won’t have to wait until Christmas.

Dave goes in for his SirSpheres treatment Thursday morning.  Should be interesting at our house for a few days while Dave and Sam recover.  If you don’t hear from me you’ll know why!  : )

  1. Please let us know if you need anything. I’m sure Jack and Wyatt can come over to entertain the patients if they are feeling a little grumpy. 🙂 Or if Parker needs to get out of the house she can come over and play with the boys. They would be in HEAVEN! Or if you need a cup of tea to relax, I have a whole shelf to pick from. (Or a bottle of wine in the fridge if that sounds better.) I have nothing to offer Grant unless he wants to come over and meet the hermit crab. Or relive his toddler days and watch the Wiggles and play with trains.

  2. Good luck to all of you. Glad Sammi will get it done and not have it hanging over her head until Christmas. Please let us know ASAP about both outcomes. Dave has a cardiologist appointment Friday to get surgery clearance. Personally, I will be a lot less stressed in a couple of weeks!! Best, Ann

  3. HOLY CRAP ROBYN! So glad this is getting done but what are you wonder woman?! It’s not enough to have a grumpy adult in the house to super stress and worry about and take care of and now you will have a grumpy young adult in a cast to take care of too?! Not to mention the worry that goes with the stress of the day of actual surgery? Oh wait…has college packing even begun yet and all that goes with it?! Good Lord! I can’t even imagine what your calendar looks like! You’re like the ant carrying around two gigantic Rubber Tree plants on her shoulders! My gosh! I thought you were looking a bit shorter than me these days! Massive prayers and hugs coming your way my friend! You are a such a good wife and mother. Please let us know if we can anything for you. : )

  4. So when it rains it pours! Glad Matt et all will be here to do what he can now that they both will be having their surgeries on Thursday! and Kris will be hands on as well! Know that we all are here to lend a hand and hit our knees. All of this is good news, for sure, and then the healing begins along with packing, and all the normal duties in a families life! We will work out the other details tomorrow! Hugs, sweet girl! Mom
