Day 2 – Also, These People

Image 3 They are not always so formally dressed.

We met Doug and Lexy 20ish years ago when they first moved to Virginia. They are both wicked smart and funny as hell.  (Doug is the only person on the planet who gets away with calling me Bob.)  They have been by our sides during some of life’s toughest moments.

Even from Kyiv, we felt their support.  I’ve detailed many of Lexy’s incredibly supportive gestures here over the years. I know how much Dave appreciated all that they did.  He especially enjoyed Doug’s supportive yet hilarious emails.

They are headed to Seoul as their next assignment -actually Lexy is already there getting the kids ready to start school.  I was lucky enough to see her and the kids while we were in Myrtle Beach. Yesterday I spent the afternoon catching up with Doug. On both occasions there were tears but also many many laughs. They are those kinds of friends.

I am thankful to have these friends who are generous beyond measure not only in gesture but in spirit.

  1. Supportive, selfless friends with a sense of humor that match your own is a rare find. I’m so glad you have them in your life.
