I like when something that I write resonates with others in some way.  I hope Heidi doesn’t mind me sharing a conversation we had in response to my latest post.

It is a very interesting point you bring up. Some choices seem simple or what is best at the moment, but are not. Then other choices, which are so hard to make, turn out to be the best ones. As always, I appreciate you candor. Hugs.

And, hopefully, I think what we do as spouses/family/friends is help the ones we love see which place they are in. I was operating from a “there is no way you are throwing away all that you have in an impulsive need to escape. we love you and need you” place where as others were operating under a “we just want you to be happy” point of view. both perspectives are understandable and having made the right choice, he was happy.

on one of our daily walks in the last weeks of his life, this was a time period that dave brought up again. i had long ago forgiven him and moved on but he needed me to know how sorry he was that he put me through all of it. he was making sure that he cleared the air and left nothing unsaid. it wasn’t necessary for me but it was appreciated all the same.

Obviously, Dave knew he had hurt you and that had deeply affected him. I am glad for both of you that you were able to forgive him. Forgiveness is an important part of marriage.

absolutely. : )

i was talking to samantha today about how it can be easy to hurt those closest to you because you know they love you no matter what. and so it is important to be mindful of not hurting them or taking them for granted.

That is so true. Good advice and important for us all to remember. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂
