Memories

I was married to Dave for almost 22 years.  Half of my life.  Nearly all of my adult life.  We spent a lot of time over the years on I95 headed to Savannah or the lake or even Disney World.  So the drive down south was chock full of memory land mines – inside jokes and little stories.  The kids and I talked about him a lot, and when it fell silent in the car, I thought about him even more.  When we turned off of 95 and headed towards Myrtle Beach, I felt my mood shift.  I had the distraction of rows of cornfields and small towns dotted with mom and pop businesses.  The kids and I found new things to point out and discuss.

The resort upgraded us to a 5 bedroom condo.  It is absurdly big for the 4 of us, but you can’t beat the view.

  1. Looks like an awesome place to rest, relax, and recharge. Enjoy your time there to the fullest! So wonderful of the Tremaines to send you guys there.

  2. You are an awesome Mom and your kids will show you how to enjoy this wonderful adventure to the beach. Just call it a gift of healing. Dave had a very special wife!! XO

  3. You know, I am so sure that Dave is with you all in spirit (and laughing at all those inside jokes that you both shared) and he will love seeing you all together. Every “first” without him will be hard without a doubt, so be gentle and kind with yourself and take things one day at a time. Or even hour by hour, when it feels really tough (as I’m certain it does all of the time right now). *Big hugs* I have been thinking of you and wondering how you are so it was good to find this post. xxx

  4. Whew. That was a close one. So glad you decided to keep your followers WITH you during your get away. Reading your thoughts calms me. Brings me a peace down deep. Quiets some fears I have. I only hope typing them out and pressing “Send” does the same for you.
